Getting to Know Me

Cole
I thought in this post I would tell everyone a little bit about myself and how I started my fitness journey.

I am an almost 40 year old mother & wife.  Our son, Cole, 15 years old.  I have been married to Todd for almost 9 years.  We have 2 dogs & a cat.  Charlie is a black lab & he is about 10 or 11 years old.  Mia is almost 2.  She is a blue Chihuahua & she is precious.  If you know me well I take way to many pictures of her.  But she is my baby girl.  Our cat about 9 or 10 & we call him El Gato.

I started my fitness journey about 3 years ago.  I didn’t do because I was overweight or un-healthy; I did it because I am getting old.  I wanted to learn how to take care of myself.  I started out by just walking & going to the gym.  Then I decided I wanted to start running.  My sister, who is a runner, told me to start with the couch 2 5k.  Which I did, then I hurt my knee.  I didn’t need surgery or anything but I stopped doing any exercise for a while.  Then about 6 months later my husband suggested I get back in the gym.  Not because I was looking bad or anything, but because he knew I enjoyed working out.  I had to start my training over because I had to decided to do the Tulsa Run (5k) with my father.  I completed the race & I was hooked on running & working out.  I have done 6 races since that first race.  I am planning on doing several more.

My Sister Bethany & I
My Dad & I at the 2012 Tulsa Run 5k
My sister & my dad have been big influences on my running.  My dad has done several half marathons & he has done the Chicago Marathon.  My sister has done 2 half marathons.  I was on here marathon relay team for the Route 66 Marathon.  I was kinda honored that she asked me to be on the team.

Todd is very supportive of me & my journey.  He makes dinner every night & tells me you need to go to the gym.  He know how much I enjoy doing it & how it makes me feel.
Todd & I

Once I started to really get into running I decided to start this blog.  The people around me don’t really need to hear about my training or what I am eating nor do they really want to, so I know have a blog.  I have not been really good about posting but now that I have become an I’m Fit Possible Ambassador I have been posting more.

Now that you have learned way more that you ever wanted to know about me, I will save the rest for a later post.

Until next time,
Kristin

Lazy Week

Ok well maybe not lazy!  As far as working out yes I have been lazy this week!  But I have been being mommy!  Our 15 year old had major oral surgery on Wednesday & that's my top priority!  Cole had 5 teeth taken out, but he is on the mend & I will be back on my regular schedule next week! I hope!  I miss my gym time.

Weekeend Update

Option 2
This weekend was great!!  Friday night to celebrate my race the next day my husband took out on a date!!  We went & had a glass of wine at the local Pub.  We got home around 6:30 pm, I still had to get my race day outfit ready.  But I had 2 different options because there was a chance of rain.  Thank goodness the rain held off until after the race.  I finished in 39.45.  Not my best finish by a long shot but I finished.  I didn’t get a metal or anything but I ran for a good cause the Special Olympics.

Option 1

I decided to mix up my workout schedule a tad bit.  I have decided to run 3 days a week instead of just 2.  I have also decided to stop step class for now.  I can’t give up my bootcamp.  This week I will not get my normal gym time in because our son is having oral surgery on Wednesday.  Monday he was very nervous & Tuesday we are having a special dinner for him.  Since he won’t be able eat normal food awhile.  So I will try to get back in the gym on Thursday for bootcamp.

Until next time!!  Kristin

Race Day Saturday

Race Day Shirt & Bib
Saturday is my 1st 5k of the year & I am super excited.  I picked my packet up on Tuesday & got my shirt & bib.  I was a little worried about the shirt but I really like the shirt.  I thought it would be a regular T-shirt but it is a nice running shirt.  I don’t like running in T-shirts.  This will be the 1st race I have done by myself.  I have always done my races with my dad, my BFF Holly or my sister (I was on a marathon relay team with her).  I kinda like the idea of running by myself but I really hope Holly will be able to do a few races this year!!!

I am trying to figure out what music to listen to during the race.  I normally listen to Black Eyed Peas radio while I run but I think want to change it up.  I am thinking Disco might be good but I just don’t know!  Any ideas??
My Race Bib Frame

After I complete this race I will have to start a new display frame for my race bibs.  (see picture)  I think it is a great way to display my race accomplishments.  It also shows my create side that doesn’t get shown very much.

I know a lot of people have a certain meal they eat the night before a run but I am not one of those people.  I normally do runs that are on Saturday & our family has pizza or some quick meal on Friday.  My husband picks dinner up on his way home on Friday & I think something he forgets I am running the next morning & I need to eat something somewhat healthy!!  I do drink a lot of water.  Since I stopped drinking soda water & tea is all I drink.  I do feel a lot better after I stopped drinking soda!!

That’s all I have for today!!  Until next time!!

I'm Fit Possible

My sister introduced me to I’m Fit Possible.  So I did a little research.  They are social. They are big hearted, creative, fitness enthusiasts.  They also based in Social Media.  As I was reading up on them I saw that I could apply to be an ambassador.  So went back to my sister’s blog and saw the I’m Fit Possible Ambassador Badge.  I thought I can do that.  I just had to be active on 2 or more Social Media Sites (which I am) & have a focus on fitness or wellness.  I got the fitness down & the wellness I am working on.  So, I put my application in & waited.  Then on Friday as Todd & I were having dinner & drinks at a local Mexican restaurant I got an e-mail.  It said you’re In.  I am now an I’m Fit Possible Ambassador.

Now that I am an I’m Fit Possible Ambassador, I am going to try to be a little more diligent about updating this blog!!

So to start off I am running my 1st 5k of the year, The St. Patrick’s Day 5k (supporting Special Olympics) next Saturday March 14.  I like doing runs that have a cause attached to them.  I have posted my race schedule but I think it will be changing.  I am still striving to do a half marathon at the end of the year.  I am just not sure what other race I will be doing!

I went to Yoga & Bootcamp this past Saturday.  Yoga was tough I realized while doing it I am not as flexible as I once was.  I will be going back because I really enjoyed it.  I rocked Bootcamp but I do it at least 2 times a week. Bootcamp is my favorite class at the gym.  My workout schedule for this week is:

Monday – Run

Tuesday – Step (my other favorite class)

Wednesday – Run

Thursday – Bootcamp

Firday – Off (family time)

Saturday – St. Patrick’s Day 5k

Sunday – House Cleaning Day (my least favorite thing to do)
That’s all I have for today!!
